MY FIRST MEMORY – MY FATHER’S DEATH

AGE - 1
The death of my father was my first memory, and it
really did affect me.
It
was 10 days before my 1st birthday.
I was sitting on the carpet next to my sister, watching TV and
eating dinner.
I can assume
that we were watching news; which at that time meant basically nothing
to me.
What I can remember;
on TV, there were several photos of men, and one of them was my father.
Then suddenly my mother started crying.
I looked at my mother crying and then my sister started crying as
well.
She is 1 year older than me.
Maybe
she understood what happened.
So I just started crying as well, because I was so young.
My Father had died from an airplane crash.
Everybody on that airplane died from the crash.
My
dad had died working for the Government, counting the elephant
populations.
The photo at the top that you can see, is the monument for
everyone that died that day from the airplane crash.
And the picture next to
it
shows
you how my mother took me with her to
work.
Both my parents were
biologists.
When your first
memory in your life, is your father’s death, then that does really
affect you.
