CRACKED SKULL I - SKATEBOARD

AGE - 7

 At some time; my mother bought me a skateboard.  This did not last very long.  I did not know how to use a skateboard.  All I knew to do is sit on the skateboard and ride it downhill.  Now there was only 1 slope.  The slope was almost at a 45 degree and only for about 5 meters.  After that you could continue for about 10 meters and then you hit a wall.  This was a bit of fun but became rather boring.  There was an option.  If you ride the skateboard downhill for 5 meters and then you make a sharp 90 degree turn left, there is a longer stretch you can ride the skateboard.  Now I was getting pretty good with swerving right and left, so I thought I could make it.  All I remember is going downhill; and that’s about it.  I was told I crashed my head into the corner of the concrete and cracked my skull.  And that’s where I was found later in the day.  I guess someone threw the skateboard away since I never saw that skateboard again.  Once roller blades were invented I did become a very good blader.  My best blader photos are posted in another chapter.  Age 21 – Rail Between The Legs
